The Frank Gehry House

The Frank Gehry House designed by Frank Gehry himself and located in Santa Monica, California was considered an architectural masterpiece of its time and still is today. A symbol of deconstructivism and postmodernist architecture, Gehry described his work as a 'balance of fragment and whole, raw and refined, new and old'. As such he left the old dutch colonial home untouched and built a completely new house (or more so extension around it) screaming an extreme contemporary style. Designed to show both old and new elements of the house and altering the spatial experience when walking through the architecture.

As such this was a start to our group assignment and the understanding of a really complex but wonderful house.
